Eagle Boston

2017

The eagle has landed – finally! Since the early days of Torstraßen Festival, members of the Berlin post-kraut band Eagle Boston have been connected with us in one way or other. The singer Yelka was an integral constituent of the 2012 TSF alumni Two Chicks & A Beer, and keyboarder Jonas Verwijnen, in real life a producer and sound engineer for acts like Liima, Moonface, Dena, and LCMDF, curated an entire stage five years ago at CCCP Bar, which has since gone missing in the stormy waters of gentrification. And, last but not least, drummer Christian Obermaier: sound designer and collaborator of artists like Barbara Morgenstern, SchneiderTM and Julia Hummer. Might we say “supergroup”? Indeed. With Eagle Boston, three specialists do what they feel like doing. It’s a passionate affair between kraut-rock and dream-pop; pulsing jams distilled into the ingredients of precision percussion, space-age synths, and spoken/sung vocals, resulting in something between Flying Lizards, Feelies, Steve Reich, 22-Pistepirkko, Young Marble Giants, and ESG. This is a rare treat at a high level – enjoy!
