K-X-P

2013

Catharsis. Seeing K-X-P live on stage is a transcendental experience, for the audience and the band themselves. Strobe lights, drone, anthemic melodies, stoic rhythms, trance. And in the center is Timo Kaukolampi playing the role of a lunatic reverend, a shaman on synthesizers, LCD-Soundsystem meets Klaus Kinski meets Motörhead. Before Kaukolampi, a Finnish part-time Berliner, became the K in K-X-P he wrote hits for the English pop factory Xenomania. His previous projects Larry & The Lefthanded and OP:L Bastards now seem like test runs for what culminates so impressively in K-X-P: rock’n’roll, kraut, free jazz, rave, dada, dream & nightmare, black & white. Far beyond conventional structures their songs remain catchy. They lead you into the black hole, they mess with our brain, they hypnotize and eventually cleanse you. With their second album the band collected praise from Pitchfork to The Guardian. After shows at Roskilde and Flow Festival they’re exclusively visiting us on Torstraße. Insane.
