Welcome to The Burning Hell. Mathias Kom is obsessed by two big topics: Life and –you might have guessed– death. Armed with a ukulele and caustic humor, the Newfoundlandian has been touring the world for many years, telling his cranky stories about himself, the world, the end of the world, living and dying. His band The Burning Hell functions as a loose following, as motley crew of musicians, everything is possible from duo to the full ensemble. And yet Mathias Kom, holding a master degree in ethnic and migration studies is a happy fatalist. Anecdotes full of charming self-deprication, a stylistic device deeply rooted in Jewish humor, make his concerts a humorous experience between anti-folk and stand-up comedy. Only last year The Burning Hell played ten concerts in ten different countries within 24 hours setting a new world record. At Torstraßen Festival we’ll gladly have them stay for breakfast.
