Will Samson is an exceptional discovery. His name might be circulating between the cubicles of English music magazines, yet in these parts he seems to be flying under the radar still. And that being one of the handpicked and always interesting artists signed to the Berlin-based record label Karaoke Kalk. But the waters which Samson dives into are deep and rich, and of a beauty which does not unfold between two blog posts. Songs really, overflowing, sensitive, fragile. Acoustic guitar, atmospherical layers of sound, repetitive patterns. Folk engages with ambient, experimental and electronical sounds converge into a gentle bliss, a pulsating stream tied together by Samson’s falsetto. It’s music you want to shoot a film to, a film about happy people in sad places, flickering neon lights and trips to the ocean. A film about big emotions of little people in the fjords of ours megacities. Alright, we leave it at that. Trust us, this will feel really, really good.
