Until now, Berlin-based cellist Anne Müller has most notably appeared as part of exciting collaborations. Alongside Danish songwriter Agnes Obel she has toured the world, and with neoclassical superstar Nils Frahm she recorded a fascinating album called 7fingers. Now it is finally time for Müller’s first solo album, which is scheduled for release via Erased Tapes, home to artists like Ólafur Arnalds, Dawn of Midi and once again Frahm, with whom she is working on a follow-up to 7fingers, based on their score for a contemporary dance piece. Müller acquired her masterful skills at music academies in Berlin and Frankfurt, yet despite her expertise as an orchestral performer and chamber musician she is drawn to the free formats of contemporary and experimental music. Out of a perimeter of effect pedals and loop stations she creates absorbing soundscapes, a vortex of feedback, drone and glitches with enormous emotional gravity.
