Watching Bart Constant’s award-winning music video for “Do better” one easily understands the degree of perfectionism in this dutch songwriter, currently based in Berlin. Over many years Hoedemaekers has put together a fascinating indie pop album in wich sophisticated details pinpoint the many corners of its suspence. The debut album “Tell yourself whatever you have to” (out on PIAS) moves the heart and mobilizes the nerves. Like a frog in biology class Hoedemaekers dissects rhythmical elements and puts them back together as great melodies. Very thought-out and very simpatico.
