In 2011 after playing in groups such as Shapes and Sizes, Miracle Fortress and Think About Life, Thompson-Hannant started making music on her own as a means of a more personal pursuit, drawing form from living in a world of isolated passion where submission to the things you cannot change liberated a space for inner logic and inner values. From years of creating and questioning come a few scattered songs. And then a few more came. By revealing and feeling the full breadth of life for herself, Mozart’s Sister aspires to leave no listener stranded.

Pierre Kwenders
www.pierrekwenders.com
Afro-Canadian singer/songwriter Pierre Kwenders’ music is a response to a world that so often asks people who fit comfortably in multiple boxes to pick only one. While Pierre’s music ranges from icy R&B to futuristic hip-hop, his style is rooted in Congolese rumba, the ubiquitous sound of The Democratic Republic of Congo. With his new full-lenght album, out on September 2017, Pierre looks to build on the success of his debut. Produced entirely by Seattle-based Fly Guy Dai (aka Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces), this new album pivots from Bantou’s housey thump to something more instrumental, incorporating strong African influence and old-school West Coast hip-hop vibes into Kwenders unique recipe.

Torstraßen Festival is proud to yet again partner with POP Montreal, this time in the form of a warm-up show featuring some exceptional talents based in Canada’s creative capital.
