No Fear of Pop presents:
Conquering Animal Sound.
It’s a little under a month until Torstraßen Festival kicks off here in sunny Berlin, where we have been lucky to host our own little No Fear Of Pop stage, featuring four Berlin-based acts that we are very excited about this year, dipping into slightly different facets of electronic pop. Now, bad news first: Iberia are unfortunately forced to cancel their performance due to a double booking, but we’ve managed to get a hold of a very nice replacement in a somewhat similar characteristic: the Glasgow-based duo Conquering Animal Sound, as we discovered when playing a Noisekölln and Shameless Limitless night alongside the excellent Co La a few months back. On their latest record On Floating Bodies released via Chemikal Underground back in March, the duo steps into a further exploration of the lead singer Annike’s memorable, almost mechanical vocals, peaking through the strangely organic, rhythm heavy production of her bandmate James. Drowned In Sound loved it, and so does we, and even though it will be in absence of our dearest friends Iberia, we’re still looking very much forward to see them live.
