«So Berlin, like two-four, four-four, with samples from real records, like Marvin Gaye and stuff, right?» is how we’d translate a great line from Brangelina’s EP, full of irony and refusal toward Berlin’s scenster hyperventilations, the nervous now, the Jolies and the Pitts, who besides a spacious apartment on Torstraße at least left this great band name behind. «Erstmal runter kommen» («Let’s all calm down») is Brangelina’s slogan, written in small print on their bandcamp site. No big deal really, just making music, guitar, drums and bass, shout it out, hanging out, skateboarding, boys in a band type of things. And yet brangelina aren’t sounding too relaxed. Postrock is what it’s called, releasing energy yet reflecting on things. Brangelina fit into a German scene of post rockers many of them tied to the Berlin-based label Sinnbus. It’s about the attitute, not the ambition.
