CRIME

2013

American sociologist and criminologist Thorsten Sellin defined crime as a «violation of conduct norms of the normative groups». According to that crime is what most people don’t do or simply a behavior that gets on the majority’s nerves. Although Berlin-based partners in crime Mika Risiko and Sarah Adorable have put the break of rules right into their band name, their energetic goth pop didn’t manage to piss us off at all! But yeah, we’re not the majority maybe. Mika Risko and Sarah Adorable are queer, DIY, punks and new romantics, wavers and goths at the same time. The recent project already moves successfully within the underground coordinates of Berlin’s queer culture: The bare-skinned video to their first single was premiered at Pornfilmfestival, they’re playing shows at Südblock and their songs are played on Expatriarch Radio. Mika is also one half of the band Sissters and American Sarah is part of the legendary Scream Club, which she together with Cindy Wonderful recently has relocated from the U.S. to Berlin.
