Halasan Bazar

2013

A short explanation: «Halazan» is a yoga exercise. On your back, arms alongside, palms on the ground, knees straight, toes touching the ground, ankles stretched. Then, movement! Raise legs slowly and lower them overhead. What is it good for? – A flexible spine, good flow of energy, a boost in your thyroids and of course: eternal youth. A «bazar» on the other hand is a marketplace, a street of shops, bustling merchants, commonly filled with exotic smells and desires. Rip-offs and bargains, a place of haggling, of both necessities and extravagance. Therefore the band name transports the sphere of our mysterious guests quite like no other: Psychedelic Pop! Transcendental sounds for the well-being of body and soul (halazan / psychedelic), condensed and purified for immediate consumption in the here and now (bazar / pop). The 6 traveling hawkers spring from Denmark, England, Australia and Norway. They have settled in Copenhagen and answer to such illustrious names as Cptn. Habi Halasan, The Mysterious Mr. Bazar, Henry The Rabbit, Dr. Grobble, Fangdelu and Monsieur Monitor. They follow up a chain of obscure releases with their new album «Space Junk» released on the american cassette label Crash Symbols. Yes, cassettes.
