Expatriarch presents: James K.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, James K a.k.a. Jamie Krasner established her music career in New York. Aside from her work as half of the duo SETH with Gobby and doing guest vox for Physical Therapy and Mykki Blanco, James K has been making a name for herself as a solo artist. In 2013, she self-released her first EP, four tracks of experimental pop with atmospheric ambience and dubbed-out jazz elements. It’s not only her sound that’s very textural—bringing to mind both Grimes and Portishead—so are the collagist visuals she creates for her live shows, along with her outfits. James relocated to Berlin about one year ago. The new tracks “Sokit” (a 7” single on UNO NYC) and “S Lush” (a track on the Dial Records 15thanniversary compilation) foreshadow her debut full-length to be self-released this year. Aside from this, the second SETH album is slated for June on the 1080p label. (Text: Joey Hansom)
