Creepy and crawly yet intricately systematized, the thousand-footed organism is a thoughtfully appropriate eponym for a project consisting not of an army of very small musicians but rather of (at least most times) a single, milli-talented one: Mathias Götz. Götz plays—wait for it—piano, xylophone, and glockenspiel, in addition to stylophone (come again?), Moog (duh.), and harmonium (exactly.) Then there’s the Da-Da-Da-keyboard Casio VL-1, maracas, claves und darbuka. And: a string of mussel shells (ok.), mbirra (a lil something like this.), davul (voilà!) and finger cymbals (so cute.) That’s not all: jingle bells (omg.), caxixi, Muligebiß (bam.), as well as other household items such as the tom-tom, snare, bass drum, cymbal (boooring.) and last but not least, trombone. Oh yeah, p.s., and he can sing. Ok. And how does it sound? Like Moondog! Like space travel! Like Yann Tiersen! Ahem… better obviously. And does he actually have several arms? With good friends and old acquaintances, yes, he does. We’re pumped for Mathias Götz featuring Micha Acher (The Notwist), Markus Acker (The Notwist), Nico Sierig (Joasihno), and Stefan Drittlein.
