Dear cultural theorist, what is the precise term for that mixture of 1950s Americana, tattooed guys, bleached blonde girls, prom nights, teenage dreams, nostalgia and drama, horror and mystery? You know… Twin Peaks, Chris Isaak, True Romance. A little bit of camp, a huge bit of pop and just a dash of surrealism. Well, whatever that is called, Miss M.E, part-time Berliner from California really knows how to place herself into this universe the exciting way. And doing that she is not only refreshing the aforementioned coordinates with a good load of Lo-Fi, Wi-Fi and DIY but is also fully aware of her references which she is facing with a deliberate confusion of authenticity and spectacle. And now we haven’t even mentioned her fantastic voice, her impeccable songwriting and all these great videos. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Miss M.E.
