The band Molde prefers to play with their backs to the audience. This could be so that the audience doesn’t get distracted from obligatory counting—this is, you see, a math rock band. Or a post-rock band. Or a noise band. In any case, the frequent changes in tempo and time signature make for a complex sound. But never so complex that it’s annoying—that can also, sadly, be a thing. Well. The band Molde is two people and sings sometimes in English, sometimes in German, and sometimes in an unintelligible hodgepodge. The band Molde isn’t as young as it sounds (that’s a compliment), but also not really grown up (which is good!). The band Molde doesn’t come from Brooklyn and it doesn’t come from Lisbon. It comes from Finsterwalde, a town between Berlin and Leipzig, There’s more happening in Finsterwalde than you’d think! The band Molde is very nice and very good. That is a rare combination. One could stumble across the band Molde in the fanzine Flennen which is also very nice and also very good. The band Molde is about small gestures and big feelings. Or about big gestures and small feelings—the gestures and feelings are simply never both small or both big. Which is important. Molde recorded a video in Finsterwalde’s very own Boiler Room. Yes, it’s pretty funny.
