The bedroom: Still a reliable laboratory for surprising experiments in pop music. Songwriter Ori Alboher shipped his bed from Jerusalem to Berlin where he now works on his very own formula of folk and soul, of house and trip hop. Imagine Sufjan Stevens putting out an album on Anticon – Ori’s songs are elliptical constructions of loopy voices, acoustic guitars, wobbly bass lines, distant field recordings and a percussion which really does add a touch of hip hop to the subtle arrangements. Ori zooms in and out of those sonic mosaics, he gets lost in the free play of the elements and finds his way back to beautiful melodies with genuine hits such as «Behind Your Back». His first album Unwind was released via Bandcamp only, but it stirred up the attention that it deserves and new songs are already in the making.
