After extensive field trips through America, Africa and Europe the two superbrains with the four arms are back in Berlin. The music of SchnAAk is a wacky soundtrack from a far-out cartoon-universe: off-beat, off-mainstream, off-everything. Handmade yet superhuman, Mathias Jähning and Johannes Döpping craft their own instruments in order to dissemble their sounds. Analogue synthesizers, cheap plug-ins, prepared guitars – avantpop, cranky and noisy, smart and weird at once. Explosive noise on african rhythms somewhere between Fugazi, Frank Zappa and The Talking Heads. As figureheads of the Dresden-based Discorporate Records, SchnAAk make an idiosyncratic emergence with a submissive following and international resonance. A wild open-end experiment, and live on stage a real experience.
