To be honest, we ourselves aren’t really sure who this Gilberto character is or why he’s apologizing, but we know this much is true: a) Sorry Gilberto is from Berlin, b) they’re made up of the members Anne von Keller and Jakob Dobers and c) they’ve cultivated a trademark sound that fuses 1. folk, 2. jazz, 3. art song, and 4. chanson. In addition, we have concrete evidence that their songs are mostly about I.) yellow sweaters, II.) plastic chairs* (*color unspecified), III.) the smell of coffee, and IV.) psychoanalysis. Furthermore, we can attest that von Keller and Dobers make use of the following antediluvian noise-makers: 1.1) the omnichord, 1.2) the stylophon (to be googled independently), 1.3) the miniCasio, 1.4) rhythm machine. Last fall saw the release of the duo’s no less than fourth album. It’s called Twisted Animals. We recommend it whole-heartedly. Also, we promise never to write another announcement text in list form.
