We are raising hell in Mitte, please welcome the first black metal band at Torstraßen Festival. After recently artists such as Liturgy or Deafheaven have stepped out of the inner circles of infernal music and thus appealed to notoriously trend-sensitive music media it is Sun Worship, a Berlin-based three-piece which lets our rather exposed ears flutter in awe. Sun Worship celebrates speed and repetition to an extreme where sound layers of hypnotic, almost meditative quality arise. Ambient from hell: Mere insinuations of melody and subtle references to noise and shoegaze are paired with a careful dosage of apocalyptic wails urging through hellfire. There already is a number of recordings, released as precious editions on vinyl and cassette, packaged in the breathtaking designs of Italian graphic artists View From The Coffin, who masterly specialize in branding the undead.
