At this point we’d like to insert some light curatorial boasting: at this year’s festival, themed FOREVER, the futurologist André Uhl will play ultra-romantic future music, Bad Hammer will grace us with their song “Forever,” and, for one more slam dunk, the Transylvanian (yes) producer Jinka just released a potential super-hit called “Countdown Forever.” As it turns out, potential super-hits are Jinka’s specialty. “Countdown Forever” is a crystal-clear piece of pop music that gushes with youthful hedonism, yet—countdown forever—it’ll all soon be over. Everything has an end – only sausages have two. Decay, vanity, stumbling in high-definition towards the abyss, blood on the dancefloor, yin and yang. And does that make for good pop music? You know it! It’s not hard to imagine Diplo dropping the track in the sunset (or, even hotter, in the sunrise) at Coachella. Didn’t EDM use to be a dirty word? Nah. And this whole time we’ve just been talking about one track. With “Shock Mounted,” “Flesh to White to Black to Flesh,” and “Trash from the Past,” Jinka raises the earworm quota to an all-time high. Gaststätte W. Prassnik, are you ready for this?!
