Dort stellt Euch Kat vier brillante Acts vor: Berliner Italo-Disco von Itaca, afrodeutschen Rap von Leila Akinyi, Dream-Pop von Highest Sea und grenzüberschreitende Naturgewalten von Fritz Helder. TSF’17 x Das Wetter

Wetter means weather. And the weather will be perfect for this year’s Torstraßen Festival. Why is that? Because we’ve invited the editorial team of Berlin-based culture magazine Das Wetter to curate this year’s program at Acud Club. So what did they come up with? Battle-rap from Wedding (Shacke One), Cloud-Rap from Vienna (Hunney Pimp), Art-Rap from Leipzig (Der Täubling), and… a soon-to-be-pop-star Mavi Phoenix. Yes, it’s time to dive into some German Sprechgesang, folks!
The Opening feat.

Mozart’s Sister
mozartssister.bandcamp.com
Mozart’s Sister came from Caila Thompson-Hannant striving to create without pretense or practical implication. In 2011 after playing in groups such as Shapes and Sizes, Miracle Fortress and Think About Life, Thompson-Hannant started making music on her own as a means of a more personal pursuit, drawing form from living in a world of isolated passion where submission to the things you cannot change liberated a space for inner logic and inner values. From years of creating and questioning come a few scattered songs. And then a few more came. By revealing and feeling the full breadth of life for herself, Mozart’s Sister aspires to leave no listener stranded.
Pierre Kwenders
www.pierrekwenders.com
Afro-Canadian singer/songwriter Pierre Kwenders’ music is a response to a world that so often asks people who fit comfortably in multiple boxes to pick only one. While Pierre’s music ranges from icy R&B to futuristic hip-hop, his style is rooted in Congolese rumba, the ubiquitous sound of The Democratic Republic of Congo. With his new full-lenght album, out on September 2017, Pierre looks to build on the success of his debut. Produced entirely by Seattle-based Fly Guy Dai (aka Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces), this new album pivots from Bantou’s housey thump to something more instrumental, incorporating strong African influence and old-school West Coast hip-hop vibes into Kwenders unique recipe.
TSF’17 x Mansions & Millions
Join us at ACUD on Thursday, April 6 for our second warm up event: TSF 17 x Mansions & Millions. Berlin based DIY label Mansions & Millions is home to the increasingly high profile local artists Better Person and Magic Island. For this partnership the label has curated a rich lineup, featuring the multitalented left field pop savant Helen Fry, the post industrial artist Normal Echo, and 80s pop hit throwback Karolini.

TSF’17 x TRADE
Please join us at ACUD on Thursday, March 16th, for TSF 17 x TRADE, the first of many Torstrassenfestival 2017 warm-up events. In addition to shining a light on one of Berlin’s most forward thinking (not to mention good looking) party series’, the night will serve to recontextualize a club night in a concert setting.

2017
Also, Datum merken, dran bleiben, gesund bleiben, frohe Weihnachten, happy new year, Ihr wisst schon.
Wait, have we told you about 2017 yet? So we thought we’d do this TSF again next year and we hope that June 8th – 11th works for you? Saturday, the 10th will be the big day and the other days will also be big in their own way just not ~30 bands spread over a bunch of venues around Mitte kind of way. Oh, there will also be a motto this time: »The 7 Year Itch.« We’ll explain that to you later. So save the date, stay tuned, be well, merry christmas, happy new year, etc etc. You know how it goes.
Warsaw!
